Cagliari have offered a contract to ex-Arsenal goalkeeper Manuel Almunia ahead of the new season.
The 37 year old is currently a free agent after being released by English club Watford last month at the expiration of his contract.
“Tomorrow we will sign a goalkeeper with many Champions League appearances under his belt,” is what new Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini is reported to have said according to Sky Sport Italia.
The man in question is reported to be Almunia, and is seen as a signing that can compete and nurture fellow new signing 23 year old Simone Colombi from Atalanta.
Almunia made 38 appearances for Watford last season in their failed promotion campaign.
