Carlo TavecchioCarlo Tavecchio is expected to be named the new FIGC President in the coming days.

Born in Ponto Lambro, the 71 year-old is a member of the Christian Democratic Party and has been the deputy vice-president of the Italian Football Federation since 2009.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Tavecchio will be named the new president with only Roma and Juventus withholding their vote, while Serie B and Lega Pro clubs have already backed his candidacy to replace Giancarlo Abete.

If appointed, one of his first tasks will be appointing a new national team coach as a successor to Cesare Prandelli who resigned from the Azzurri bench in June.
