Aurelio De Laurentiis NapoliNapoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is adamant that the Azzurri fans must always show their support for the players if they want the club to do well during the 2014-15 campaign.

The Partenopei were able to secure third place and win the Coppa Italia during coach Rafa Benitez’s debut season last term and the club’s chief is confident in their chances of winning a Scudetto in the near future if the team continues down this path.

De Laurentiis recently spoke during Napoli’s squad presentation to the fans about the need for the supporters’ unconditional love and his mission to continue strengthening the team, while also praising Benitez for what he was able to do in Naples last season.

“We must all thank Rafa Benitez,” said the Napoli president. “It was not easy to take over after a second place finish and the transfer of Edinson Cavani to put up a good performance with a completely different group of footballers.

“While my colleagues are trying to find even more attacking players, our strikers are already worth more than €250 million.

“You want to win? I have already expressed my desire to win a Scudetto along with you. I ask this of the fans that are close to this team, when the player enter the field they must always be applauded.

“It’s depressing for a footballer to be contested while he’s having a difficult time. If we want to win, I ask you to stand beside them.

“We will make new purchases, we will improve the squad and it will be very strong, but we have many games to play and there will be space for everyone.”
