New Lazio signing Stefan de Vrij was presented on Thursday and admitted that he is happy to have joined the Biancocelesti as they were the first team to show interest in him before the World Cup.
The 22-year-old has been given the number three shirt after sealing his move from Feyenoord and was unveiled by club president Claudio Lotito before he responded to questions.
“I am very happy to be here in a big club and a big city,” admitted de Vrij at his press conference.
“I want to thank president Lotito and sporting director [Igli] Tare for the trust they have placed in me.
“I did not expect [such enthusiasm from the fans on my arrival], we arrived two hours late but we still found those fans. This shows what Lazio fans are, I felt loved.
“This was the only club that showed any real interest in me before the World Cup. After the World Cup I looked at other options but I had the best feeling about Lazio.
“I am excited to play for Lazio and I hope to help the team improve, then I want to try and better myself.”
