Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella talked about Giuseppe Rossi, Khouma Babacar and Federico Bernardeschi ahead of their match against Palmeiras.

La Viola are on a pre-season tour of South America and tonight take in a game against Brazilian side Palmeiras, ahead of which Montella has been talking about his forward options, giving boosts to young duo Babacar and Bernardeschi ahead of the new season.

“We face a world class opponent and hope for a beautiful game,” Montella told a press conference in Sao Paulo.

“Matches like this are vital in developing our young players as they get to know another way of playing.

“Federico Bernardeschi and Khouma Babacar are vital for the future of Fiorentina. At the moment they can fill in for Rossi and [Mario] Gomez, even if they are on a different level. But I really like these players and they can have an important role to play straight away.”

As for superstar striker Rossi, who has been plagued by fitness problems and is yet to make an appearance so far this pre-season, Montella was hopeful he could make an appearance in Brazil.

“Rossi? He can play this game for a while, yes.”

Bernardeschi and Babacar are both returning from successful loan spells in Serie B, with Bernardeschi starring as a right winger for Crotone, scoring 12 goals in 39 games, while Babacar was even more prolific as a central striker for Modena, scoring 20 goals in 42 appearances.
