Fiorentina have completed the signing of Australian international midfielder Josh Brillante from the Newcastle Jets.

The once capped international just missed out on Australia’s World Cup squad, having made the provisional thirty man list, but is now officially a Fiorentina player after the move was confirmed.

The Viola announced the move for the 21 year old on their official website. The youngster is very highly thought of in his homeland, winning the Newcastle Jets player of the season award last season as the club finished 8th in the A-League.

Brillante is a defensive midfielder or right back who holds an Italian passport, which is useful given he will not take up a non-EU spot in Vincenzo Montella’s squad next season.
