Fiorentina are reportedly unable to reach an agreement with Catania for Gonzalo Bergessio, but are expected to continue their pursuit of the striker.

The 30-year-old, whose current contract with the recently relegated Rossazzurri is set to expire in June 2015, has been linked with the Viola, Sampdoria and West Ham United in recent months, though he would seemingly favour a move to the Gigiliati in order to play with a top five Serie A side.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Fiorentina have already reached a personal agreement with Bergessio and his representatives but had their most recent offer for his services rejected by Catania.

Reports show that the Viola submitted a proposal that would include the loaning of young striker Khouma Babacar to the Sicilian side plus cash.

Gonzalo Bergessio has been with Catania since joining them from French side Saint-Etienne in 2011 and scored 10 goals in his 30 Serie A appearances last term.
