Former Inter coach favourite for Italy post

Roberto Mancini CityRoberto Mancini is the bookies favourite to become the next Italy coach following Cesare Prandelli’s resignation from the roleĀ in late June.

Mancini recently left his role as Galatasaray coach by mutual consent after a dispute over budget and transfer issues and it’s believed he is interested in taking over the Azzurri post.

According to Tuttomercatoweb.com ,there has been ongoing dialogue behind the scenes with a number of candidates for the job even though the FIGC are still in the process of appointing a new president.

Other names being mentioned for the positionĀ are former Juventus coach Antonio Conte, Francesco Guidolin, Alberto Zaccheroni and Luciano Spalletti.

It’s expected a new coach will be in place before Italy play a friendly against Netherlands on September 4 before they begin their UEFA Euro 2016 campaign away to Norway on the September 9.
