arrigo sacchiFormer AC Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi has confirmed that he will step down from his current role with the Italian football federation coordinating the national youth set-up when his contract ends this year.

The 68-year-old, who took the Rossoneri to back-to-back European Cup successes in 1989 and 1990, cited the stress which has accompanied his long association with Italian football as a major factor in his decision.

“It [stress] is a terrible opponent who has accompanied me throughout my 22 years,” Sacchi told Tuttomercatoweb.

Sacchi led the Azzurri to the 1994 World Cup Final where they lost to Brazil on penalties before returning to the Rossoneri briefly after elimination from Euro’96.
