Former Italy international closer to China move

Italy World Cup winner Alberto Gilardino looks certain to be making the move to Chinese Super League side, Guangzhou Evergrande.

The Asian champions have been negotiating the details of a prospective move for the 31-year-old with his current Italian side, Genoa.

According to Sky Sport 24, both player and agent are scheduled to meet on Saturday in order to discuss the potential move.

Gilardino would link up with former coach Marcello Lippi who has been coaching the Chinese outfit since May 2012 and is keen to see his former player join him in the far East.

The two have worked together before back at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups.
