Future of former Napoli goalkeeper still undecided

Pepe Reina LiverpoolFormer Napoli loanee Pepe Reina has returned to Liverpool and hopes to speak with coach Brendan Rodgers about his future in the coming days.

The 31-year-old spent last season at the San Paolo on loan helping Napoli to a third place Serie A finish and the Coppa Italia trophy.

“I have a contract for two more years and I have not yet spoken with the coach to understand what he intends to do,” Reina told  El Mundo Deportivo. 

So far Napoli are unwilling to pay the permanent transfer fee Liverpool have asked for with the English club unwilling to reduce the fee currently.

Reina has stated he would like to return to Napoli and continue his career at the San Paolo. The Spaniard was linked with a move to Barcelona earlier this year however the Spanish side have signed two goalkeepers in Marc Andre Ter Stegen and Claudio Bravo.

“Barcelona? I wasn’t too confident. This past summer there have been talks but I focused on doing well in Naples.”
