AC Milan goalkeeper Gabriel has revealed that he plans on remaining with the Diavolo for the 2014-15 campaign and hopes to prove himself worthy of a spot in the club’s starting line up.

The 21-year-old, who made his Serie A debut for the Rossoneri in a 1-0 win over Udinese last term, has only been a backup keeper since his arrival at the Italian side in 2012, but will now be looking for his chance to shine in Italy’s top tier next season.

Gabriel spoke to Sky Sport Italia about his decision to stay at AC Milan and the confidence he’s received from executive Adriano Galliani, while also commenting on which footballer he idolises most.

“My idols? I don’t really have idols among the goalkeepers, but see them as good examples,” said the Brazilian.

“However, one of my idols is Kaka and for me it was an honour, and a great joy, that we were able to play together here.

“My future? I’ll stay at Milan, I spoke with the club and we’ve decided to continue together as I keep improving.

“Michael Agazzi? I’ve known him a little, but I want to give my all and put my best foot forward for Milan.

“Galliani has told me that he has confidence in me. Everything really just depends on my performances on the pitch.”
