AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has urged the Diavolo fans to show faith in the team ahead of the 2014-15 campaign.

There has been some concern among the Rossoneri supporters due to the Milan side’s poor performances during this summer’s Guinness International Champions Cup, though the 70-year-old is confident that coach Pippo Inzaghi will lead the team to success during the new season.

Galliani spoke to Radio Sportiva on Wednesday, which was also his birthday, about AC Milan’s progress this summer and the need for the fans’ support, while also reflecting on his time with the Italian giants.

“I feel young and fit and I hope to continue feeling this way for a long time,” said the vice-president.

“Yesterday I spoke at length with Pippo Inzaghi, who has been seeing the team grow day by day. I’m convinced that we will do well this season, I think the whole club is confident because we have a very good coach who is working as hard as possible.

“The concern of the fans? My answer is that they must have confidence, it takes an act of faith on the part of everyone and it will be repaid.

“I’ve had so many beautiful memories here. One of the main things that stands out in my memory is the purchase of Ruud Gullit that, along with the signing of Marco van Basten, had been the first great purchases of president Silvio Berlusconi.”
