Roma coach Rudi Garcia has dismissed rumors surrounding the sale of Adem Ljajic this summer.

Following the signing of Argentine youngster Juan Iturbe for €22 million, it has been widely speculated that Ljajic would be moved on in order to balance the books somewhat.

Garcia spoke at a press conference and addressed his transfer plans for Roma heading into the 2014-2015 season after an impressive first year with the Giallorossi.

“For me the primary transfer strategy is to keep our most important players and Adem is one of them,” Garcia said.

“He takes a lot of responsibility on his shoulders and I like that.

“We have to be wary of not putting too much pressure on Iturbe. He can improve and will be important in attack, but it’ll take a while before we see him at his best in our system.”

Ljajic, who scored six goals last season, has attracted interest from across Europe with the 22-year-old forward most recently linked to Bundesliga side Schalke 04.
