Udinese sporting director Cristiano Giaretta has revealed that the future of Roberto Pereyra is still up in the air though a move to Inter or Juventus is possible.

The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with both the Nerazzurri and the Old Lady in recent weeks and Giaretta admits that the two Italian clubs are the frontrunners in landing the Zebrette man this summer, though negotiations with either side are yet to begin.

Giaretta spoke to FcInterNews.it about Pereyra’s future while also commenting on Udinese’s rumoured interest in Biscione youngster Ibrahima Mbaye.

“We like Mbaye? There are absolutely no negotiations going on for him at this time,” said the sporting director. “Not just for him, there aren’t talks for any other players at this moment.

“He did well under Andrea Stramaccioni at Inter? Yes, but it’s useless to talk about Mbaye because he is not the type of player that we really need at this time, with him we would have five players for the same position.

“Now we need to thin the squad out a bit, there are a lot of players. We have stopped with the new signings for now, so I must think to thin out such a large team.

“Pereyra deal with Juve done? We haven’t decided anything regarding Pereyra’s future yet, I don’t want to say too much for now.

“He’s a very interesting player to those targeting him. As there is nothing definite, it is a matter that’s still open for discussion.

“Juventus and Inter are the top two contenders? Yes, they are the most interested, the situation is still open. We are not favouring anyone. Therefore, everything is still open.”
