Hellas Verona president Maurizio Setti has been talking about the sale of Juan Iturbe to Roma and revealed the player’s buy-out clause at previous club Porto was €60 million.

The Gialloblu ultimately paid Porto €15 million for the forward who played last season on loan at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi before selling him on to Roma for €22 million.

“We saw last year what he [Iturbe] is capable of and applaud Roma for believing in him and purchasing him,” said Setti, speaking to Sky Sport Italia.

“His clause at Porto was €60 million, and I think that it was not at all exaggerated.

“At a big club like Roma he can achieve that valuation in a short time if he continues playing like he can.”

Setti went on to talk about his club’s targets for the upcoming season, stressing the main aim is to maintain their status in Italy’s top tier.

“The important thing is to consolidate in Serie A, perhaps with a few victories against the big teams,” continued the 51-year-old.

“Fortunately, the bulk of the group last year remained and will be helped by new arrivals, whether young or old.

“The club is trying to consolidate the work of the last two years.”
