Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain has revealed that he has no plans of leaving the Azzurri this summer despite rumours claiming otherwise.
The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to Barcelona in recent weeks with fellow Argentinian and Blaugrana star Lionel Messi even expressing his wishes to have his countryman join him at Barca ahead of the 2014-15 campaign, though the former Real Madrid man insists that he’s happy with the Partenopei.
Higuain spoke to TycSport ahead of Argentina’s quarter-final World Cup match against the Netherlands on Wednesday and confirmed that he plans on honouring his contract with Napoli.
“I’m really grateful to Leo Messi for his kind words, but I have a contract with Napoli that makes me really happy,” said the Argentine, who scored 17 goals in his 32 Serie A appearances during his debut season with the Italian side.
“The Partenopei club have treated me very well ever since my arrival last summer.”
