AC Milan midfielder Keisuke Honda has emphasised that the team must focus in order to have a good season.

The Japanese international joined Milan in January to much fanfare due to his accomplishments with the Samurai Blue and former team CSKA Moscow, but disappointed with Milan, scoring only one goal in 14 Serie A appearances.

However, after a solid individual World Cup performance, Honda is looking to bounce back and gain the support of Rossoneri fans.

“I just returned to [training with] the main group yesterday,” the player told 1495sports.com. “I need to continue to train hard.

“I think [AC Milan’s US tour] is very important to the club in several aspects, including sporting, commercial, and business points.

“As for next season, we’ll have to start doing things right as a team and as individual players. I feel good, fresh and rested. We must improve and we mustn’t play like last season. Lastly, we must focus from now on throughout the next season.

“Our objectives? We’ll see, the important thing now is to do our best and focus on the pitch.

“I still can’t say what the most significant change I’ve noticed with the new coach is, we just need to stay focused.

“Next year will be an important one for Milan, but also for the entire squad as a whole. I feel good and I am preparing well.”
