Former Torino striker Ciro Immobile is confident of the success he can bring to Borussia Dortmund despite the high profile exit of Robert Lewandowski.

The Italian international ,who completed a move to Borussia Dortmund after signing a five-year contract in June with the Bundesliga club, believes he can fill the void left by Lewandowski who made the switch to rivals Bayern Munich.

Immobile spoke at a press conference addressing the difficult task he faces in duplicating Lewandowski’s impressive goal record as the Polish star managed to score 103 times in 187 appearances for Dortmund.

“Lewandowski is the past, I am the future,” Immobile said.

“Lewandowski is a great player. I’ll try to do my best. Then we will see if I can score more or less goals than him.”

The 24-year-old will look to reproduce a successful 2013-2014 campaign at the Westfalenstadion as he finished as the top Serie A scorer last season with 22 goals.
