Inter are targeting Javier Hernandez of Manchester United and Pablo Osvaldo of Southampton as they look to add to their attacking options ahead of the new season.

The Nerazzurri have been linked with both players all summer but now negotiations look to be taking shape as Walter Mazzarri hopes to provide support for Rodrigo Palacio and Mauro Icardi up front.

Tuttosport reports that any permanent deal for Mexican international Hernandez could involve midfielder Fredy Guarin heading the other way to Manchester to bolster Louis van Gaal’s midfield.

They also claim that former Roma striker Osvaldo’s agent, Claudio Vigorelli, flew to London this week to discuss the player’s future with current club Southampton.

It is suggested that Inter hope to take the 28-year-old on loan for a season, with one of Zdravko Kuzmanovic or Saphir Taider heading in the other direction, also on loan.

Osvaldo spent the second half of last season on loan at champions Juventus, scoring 3 goals in 18 appearances in all competitions, while Hernandez has only featured regularly from the bench for Manchester United in recent seasons.

Meanwhile, club president Erick Thohir told Gazzetta dello Sport that coach Mazzarri has the full confidence of the board, and that they will do their best to provide him with a new midfielder and a striker ahead of the new season.

“It is obvious that we need to take a midfielder and a striker. But naming names does not help our transfer strategies.”
