Inter president Erick Thohir remains confident of bringing success back to the Nerazzurri after the club’s recent activity in the transfer market.

The Italians have already landed former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic on a free transfer to go along with the loan signings Dodo and Yann M’Vila and it appears they aren’t finished there with Gary Medel and Eder Alvarez Balanta reported to be joining soon.

With the club so active on the transfer market, Thohir recently spoke to Bolanews about the club’s aspirations for the future.

“What we promised to the fans was to bring Inter back into Europe,” Thohir said.

“We want to do our best. Do not forget my first full season in charge of the club will be the 2014/15 season.”

Inter have addressed their backline ahead of the new season by signing Dodo from Roma on a season long loan as well as Danilo D’Ambrosio.

“Dodo and D’Ambrosio were signed to complete the defence. Nagatomo and Jonathon cannot play 50 games. But we will not always play in a back three. I hope that [Ibrahima] Mbaye can play, because I like young players.”

“Attack? It’s a crucial position and much will depend on the tactics. If you play with one striker [Mauro] Icardi and [Rodrigo] Palacio are sufficient, but not enough if you want to play three in front.

“The summer is long so there are still many possibilities that can be evaluated.”
