Inter have registered their interest in signing Basel playmaker Marcelo Diaz this summer.
The 27 year old Chilean international is dubbed ‘the South American Xavi’ in his homeland, and has been a top performer for the Swiss side since joining them from Universidad de Chile in 2012.
According to the Chilean portal Chilevision, Inter have contacted Basel about the midfielder and were quoted a fee of €7 million to prize the classy midfielder away from the Swiss champions.
Inter are hoping they can drive the price down by including the services of former Basel midfielder Zdravko Kuzmanovic in the offer, but it remains to be seen whether the Serbian would be willing to move back to his former club.
Diaz was a key member of the Chilean side that impressed at the World Cup this past month.
