Monaco have made tentative inquiries about Inter striker Mauro Icardi, but reports suggest the player wants to stay and grow with the Nerazzurri.

Monaco have long held an interest in the forward, even offering to signIcardi from Inter in January, and it appears they have reignited their interest.

However according to fcinternews.it, Icardi has told his representatives to inform Monaco that he will not be leaving Milan as he has been convinced with new president Erick Thohir’s plan to take the side back into the Champions League and beyond, a plan that has Icardi as a central figure.

Having recently been made the face of Inter’s marketing campaign for the new season, Icardi feels valued in Milan and is willing to stay long term to help Inter regain there status as challengers in Europe.

Icardi joined Inter from Sampdoria last summer and despite a slow start to life at the San Siro, the 21-year-old Argentine international went on to make 22 appearances for the Milan giants, scoring nine goals and becoming an integral part of coach Walter Mazzarri’s side.
