Inter midfielder Mateo Kovacic believes it’s time for the younger players to help contribute to the Biscione’s impressive history.

The 20-year-old has been hailed as one of the Nerazzurri’s future stars since his arrival from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2013 and he insists that he’s ready to step up for the Italian side during the 2014-15 season.

Kovacic spoke to Sky Sport Italia about the upcoming campaign and was adamant that Inter must remain positive if they want to compete with the top clubs and succeed.

“Roma, Juventus and Lazio are strong teams. This championship will be difficult but we have to think positive,” said the Croatian international, who provided four assists in his 32 Serie A appearances for Inter last term.

“What is missing at Inter? I think the team has good players and a good club backing it. We must thank those who have already made Inter great in the past, but now it’s up to us young players to continue the tradition and make history at Inter.”
