Marco Borriello scored the only goal as Roma beat Liverpool 1-0 at Fenway Park in Boston.

The match was a cagey affair that was only settled in the 90th minute when Borriello steered a corner past Brad Jones with a deviation from Daniel Agger.

Roma used the friendly to field several new signings. Juan Iturbe, Seydou Keita, Salih Ucan, Urby Emanuelson, Leandro Parades, Ashley Cole and Stefano Pettinari were all given a run out.

Young Polish goalkeeper, Lukasz Skorupski and former Barcelona starlet Antonio Sanabria were amongst those that caught the eye. Skorupski in particular made several particularly good saves in the second half to prevent Liverpool from taking the lead.

The match against Liverpool is the first on Roma’s friendly tour of the USA. This will be followed with matches against Manchester United, Real Madrid and local rivals Inter.
