Stefan De Vrij - FeyenoordLazio have failed in their attempts to sign Feyenoord and Holland defender Stephan De Vrij after a €6 million bid was rejected by the Dutch side and now it seems the move will be hijacked by Manchester United who are lining up a €12m bid.

Louis Van Gaal led the Dutch National team to third place in the recent World Cup and has now taken his post at Old Trafford leading to many rumours surrounding some of the star performers of Holland’s campaign.

“It’s logical for the player to leave, but it has to be for the right club and the right price,” Feyenoord sporting director Martin Van Geel told RTV Rijnmond.

“I am happy that we did not accept Lazio’s offer, as it was too low. After that, no other proposal has been received.”

The Biancocelesti are thought to be lining up a counter-bid but it is unlikely to be around the €12m that Feyenoord value him at.

There will be a lot more to be said about De Vrij’s furture in the coming weeks and neither side are in a hurry to complete the move as Manchester United are currently in America on a pre-season tour.
