De Maio – Genoa

Lazio are targeting Genoa centre-back Sebastian De Maio, but the Ligurian side do not want to sell the player.

The Biancocelesti were believed to be tracking Davide Astori but the former Cagliari man opted to join city rivals Roma this week.

Sportitalia claims that new Lazio coach Stefano Pioli will now turn his attentions to De Maio but will face firm opposition from Genoa president Enrico Preziosi who has claimed the player is not for sale.

The 27-year-old was born in France but started his professional career with Brescia before moving to the Grifone where he made 23 appearances last season and was linked with a move to AC Milan.

Lazio have already made three signings so far this summer; bringing in midfielder Marco Parolo from Parma, defender Dusan Basta from Udinese, and striker Filip Djordjevic from French club Nantes.
