Lazio are on the verge of agreeing a deal for Cagliari center back Davide Astori, with a meeting set for Thursday to finalise the deal.

The Italian international defender, who has been capped seven times by his country, has been in demand for the last few months, with Inter and Juventus poised to move given their longstanding interest tin the player, but it seems Lazio have stolen a march on their rivals.

SportItalia are reporting that a meeting has been set between Lazio and Cagliari directors for Thursday, with an offer of about €7 million on the table for the 27 year old, a fee Cagliari seem willing to accept given the defender’s contract expires in just a year.

The Biancoceleste have made a number of exciting captures in this window already with Serbian duo Dusan Basta and Filip Djordjevic arriving alongside former Parma player, and Italian international midfielder, Marco Parolo.
