Lazio haven’t given up hope of signing Marseille defender Lucas Mendes before the transfer window ends.
The 23-year-old Brazilian, who can also fill in at left back, is believed to be available at the right price and Lazio are keen to add some youth to an aging defence.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Lazio are willing to offer the French giants €5 million for his services, and are confident that a deal can be agreed upon in the near future.
The defender is eligible for a Portuguese passport due to his ancestors, meaning that any worries over Mendes’ non-EU status could be solved easily.
Mendes scored two goals in 22 league appearances for the French giants last season.
