Lazio president Claudio Lotito is a big proponent of the vanishing spray used by referees at this year’s World Cup and hopes the visual aid designed to insure defenders don’t encroach the 10-yard area on free kicks will soon make its debut in Italy.

The foaming spray which has been used in Major League Soccer, the Copa Libertadores and in the recent FIFA Club World Cup made its world-wide debut in Brazil this summer to smashing reviews from fans, if not necessarily from defenders tasked to maintain a wall.

In an interview with Lazio fan site LaLazioSiamoNoi Lotito stated: “The spray gives everyone a certainty that players will keep the proper distance.

“[Bringing the spray] to Italy is part of a more complex strategy that includes other initiatives designed to assure certainty and make it easier to make a proper evaluation,” said the 57-year old Roman who has been in charge of the Le Aquile since 2004.
