Leeds United face stiff competition in their bid to land Fabrizio Grillo with fellow English Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers also interested in signing the defender.

The 27-year-old spent the latter half of the season on loan with Varese before being released by Siena last week after they went bankrupt.

“The director [of football] [Nicola] Salerno has contacted me and wants to take me to Leeds,” he told CalcioNews24.com. “I’m glad by the interest shown and thank him, but at this moment there is no possibility of a deal being close.”

“Wolves also have been in touch and they want to sign me right away. I would love to go to England but Italy is my home and I have had offers here too.”

“I did not expect a call from England, but it has made me very happy that Wolves want me. I did not know the club, but I saw videos of them on the internet, videos of the stadium and the fans, and I must say that I would love to move there.”

Grillo moved to Siena from Varese in January, 2013 and made 11 appearances for the club in Serie A before they were relegated.
