Leeds United have added Tommaso Bianchi to their growing Italian contingent, signing the midfielder from Sassuolo.

Former Cagliari president Massimo Cellino has set sporting director Nicola Salerno the task of constructing a team to compete for a place in the Premier League this season, and has added attacking midfielder Bianchi to goalkeeper Marco Silvestri, with more Italians due to arrive.

Leeds announced the signing of Bianchi on a permanent deal from Sassuolo on their official website, after spending last season on loan with Modena in Serie B.

Bianchi made 38 appearances for Modena last season, scoring three goals, and helped his side make the playoffs for Serie A, where they eventually fell to the side that would win promotion in the final, Cesena.

Cellino has drawn criticism for his management of the club so far, particularly following the sale of star striker Ross McCormack for over €13 million last week.
