Pepe Reina LiverpoolLiverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has revealed that he plans on honouring his contract with the Premier League side and has ruled out a permanent move to Napoli this summer.

The 31-year-old, who spent the 2013-14 season on loan with the Partenopei, has been linked with a permanent transfer to the Serie A side ahead of the upcoming season, though he insists that he has no intentions of leaving the Reds yet.

Reina spoke to Cadena Ser about his future with Liverpool and admitted that he hopes to eventually return to Spain before the end of his career.

“I have a contract to respect with Liverpool. I’m training well and I’m doing perfectly fine with my team-mates,” said the Spanish international, who joined the English club from Villarreal in 2005.

“At this time all of the big clubs in Spain are covered in my role, so I think it would be hard to go back to Spain. Obviously I hope to return one day, so we’ll see.

“When Rafa Benitez brought me to Liverpool in 2005, I had agreed and said I would be back in Spain sooner or later, but after 10 years I still have not returned.”

The goalkeeper had been reunited with Azzurri coach Benitez upon his arrival to Napoli last summer.
