Lazio president Claudio Lotito has revealed that he plans on further strengthening the Aquilotti squad this summer in hopes of having a successful 2014-15 campaign.

The Biancocelesti have already made several necessary signings since the opening of the transfer window and the 57-year-old admits that he’s remaining focused on adding more players to the team especially in the defensive department.

Lotito spoke to the press on Monday about his mission to continue helping Lazio improve in every aspect ahead of the upcoming season, while also praising the capital city club’s 2-0 friendly win over the Indonesia Under-23 team on Sunday.

“For my part there is the commitment to further improve the squad, in particular the defensive department, even if for the most part we are largely solid and compact,” said the Lazio chief.

“We have some shots in the barrel, and there is also the will to achieve these goals.

“Yesterday the team, although not complete in light of the absence of many players who were at the World Cup, has shown firmness and a good deal of preparation against Indonesia’s Under-23 team.

“It was the first real test at Auronzo and I am happy that it was successfully completed.

“The road ahead is still long, on both the sporting and psychological aspects, but I am sure that the coach [Stefano] Pioli will get the most of the boys and prepare for a great season of redemption.”
