Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal has admitted to having an eye on Roma player Kevin Strootman, who is currently sidelined following a ligament surgery.

The 24-year-old picked up the inury against Napoli in the second-leg of last season’s Coppa Italia semi-final, but should be back in action early in the new season.

“I never usually say anything about individual players,” the former Bayern Munich told the press.

“But Strootman,I can judge. He is injured for more than six months.”

Van Gaal then insinuated his desire to bring the Dutch midfielder to Manchester by stating he is prepared to wait for the player’s recovery.

“We have to wait and see how he comes back as it is not easy to say how he plays after the injury, but we will wait and see.” he concluded.

Strootman made 25 Serie A appearances last season, scoring five and assisting six goals, whilst also guiding Roma to a second place finish in the league table.
