Hellas Verona coach Andrea Mandorlini has revealed that negotiations are well under way for Romulo’s transfer to Juventus and added that the club are interested in signing Rafael Marquez.

The midfielder’s good form last season out on loan at Verona earned him a place in Italy’s provisional squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup before he was ruled out of the tournament with continued muscle problems.

“This is the chance of a lifetime for him,” Mandorlini told Sky Sport Italia.

He had a great season and many clubs wanted him though it’s a shame that he missed out on the World Cup, as he would’ve been of great use to Cesare Prandelli.”

“I don’t know what will happen over the course of the market, but I think it’s safe to say Romulo is on his way out of Verona.”

The Mastini have signed Nene and Panagiotis Tachtsidis this summer and are now interested in bringing Mexican centre-back Marquez to the club.

“He is a player that I like and his career speaks for him. I don’t know how advanced the negotiations are, but an experienced player like him who has been a mainstay of the Mexican national side would be important not just for Verona, but many other clubs too.”
