Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta has admitted Roma have made huge improvements to their squad in preparation for the coming season, but believes the title will be decided on the pitch and not during the summer.

The Giallorossi have enjoyed a successful summer transfer market and invested heavily with the high profile signings of Davide Astori, Ashley Cole, Urby Emanuelson, Salih Ucan and Juan Iturbe among others as they look to close the gap on the Old Lady in the race for the Scudetto but Marotta has played down their transfer dealings.

“Roma are well equipped now and deserve praise for the work they have done on the transfer market,” Marotta told Sky Sport Italia.

“The favourites remain the same, but it will be all decided on the pitch.”

Juventus have so far secured the signing of Patrice Evra, Alvaro Morata and Roberto Pereyra as new coach Massimiliano Allegri begins his first campaign in charge of the Bianconeri.
