Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Montella has revealed that Juan Cuadrado’s future with the Gigliati will depend on the player’s own career ambitions as well as which clubs would be willing to pay for his services.

The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with several European giants this summer including Barcelona, Manchester United and Arsenal and the Viola tactician in confident that his team will be able to do well next season no matter what decision the winger makes this summer.

Montella spoke to Sky Sport Italia about Cuadrado’s future, while also commenting on Fiorentina’s training camp and his hopes for the 2014-15 campaign.

“We will have to see the will and aspirations of Cuadrado and, especially, we have to see which clubs are willing to pay his full value,” said the 40-year-old.

“Should he leave the club, we will then see what we should do next. However, I still sleep calmly for the time being.

“Fiorentina are currently in the construction phase, the spirit is there, but there are still things we need to perfect. The squad is working hard like the rest of the club, there is the will to do something important.

“The wide range of players in our group? I had looked after the youth at Roma, so I’m accustomed to this.

“Our training camp is going well. We are doing well on a physical level, the choice to begin earlier was my own. I will have to better evaluate some of the players.

“The controversy between Giuseppe Rossi and Cesare Prandelli? I changed the channel.

“A lot of youth at the training camp? We have so much material, it means that we have worked well on our youth system in recent years.

“Now we have to see how these youngsters do and assess them. Surely they have brought energy and enthusiasm.

“Competition between players is always good, those who cannot handle it do not have the right mentality to play in a great team.

“The new season? In football the enthusiasm makes the difference, the euphoria can work in the opposite sense. Surely there is a lot of enthusiasm and the desire to do well.”
