Napoli’s bid for Atletico Madrid midfielder Mario Suarez has been rejected by the Spanish club.
The 27-year-old Spaniard made 17 appearances in Los Colchoneros’ La Liga winning side, in addition to appearing five times in the 2013/2014 UEFA Champions League.
According to Sky, the Neapolitan club bid an undisclosed fee plus the services of Swiss midfielder Valon Behrami, but the bid was rejected by the Spanish champions.
The report also states that the Partenopei were asked to trigger the €25 million release clause on Suarez’s contract if they wish to purchase the midfielder.
It is also worth mentioning that Napoli have already signed Michu from Swansea, Kalidou Koulibaly from Genk, and Catania’s Mario Andujar.
