Liverpool Lucas LeivaNapoli are thought to be considering making a move for Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva.

The Partenopei have been looking to bring in a new defensive midfielder this summer and seem to have given up their chase of Lyon’s Maxime Gonalons after the player rejected a move.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Serie A side are thinking of preparing a move for the Brazilian.

It is believed that they had been pursuing Gonalons for quite some time but the Ligue 1 club this week dismissed the idea that they were willing to sell their midfielder.

Another name being linked with a move to Napoli is Tottenham Hotspur’s Sandro, but a move for the Liverpool midfielder is more likely as he is a preference of coach Rafa Benítez.

Lucas featured 27 times for Liverpool in the Premier League this season as they secured a second place finish, pushing eventual champions Manchester City to the last day of the season.
