Napoli targeting Liverpool defender

Daniel Agger Liverpool

Napoli are reportedly targeting Liverpool defender Daniel Agger in a move which will see him reunite with former coach Rafael Benitez.

The Danish international has been linked with a move away from Liverpool in recent weeks, with his club close to completing the signing of Southampton centreback Dejan Lovren.

According to Il Mattino, Benitez is targeting Agger to reinforce his backline, especially with the seemingly imminent departure of Miguel Britos.

The report also states that the transfer will depend on whether or not the Partenopei qualify to the group stages of the UEFA Champions League.

Agger has made over 230 appearances for The Reds since joining the side in 2006, scoring 14 goals in the process.
