Napoli are attempting to solve their defensive midfield problems by making a move for Southampton’s French international Morgan Schneiderlin.
The 24 year old was on international duty in Brazil with France but could join the exodus from the Saints this summer, having made 33 appearances for the Premier League side and being considered one of their most consistent performers.
TuttoMercatoWeb are reporting that Schneiderlin could be available for between €11-12 million as Southampton are keen to avoid selling another of their stars to a Premier League rival.
Napoli are also believed to be chasing Tottenham’s Brazil international midfielder Sandro as well, but the €15m requested by the London club has seen Napoli look towards Schneiderlin instead.
The Azzurri had been linked with a move for Lyon captain Maxime Gonalons, but after turning down the Partenopei last week, it is believed Rafa Benitez has turned his sights to other targets
