Oliver BierhoffGermany team manager Oliver Bierhoff said his team’s success in the World Cup is due to their organization and discipline.

Die Mannschaft defeated France 1-0 Friday to advance to the World Cup semifinals against Brazil.

Speaking to the press after the match, the German public relations man was asked for the secret to Germany’s success.

“I think the secret is the organization, on and off the field,” Bierhoff said.

“We are always well organised and we always do the best for the players.

“This has always been a German quality to achieve the required performance at the right time, to be concrete and never nervous.

“Then, we’re always a team, we are very united, and if you add to this the talent, it goes very well.”

Bierhoff made 70 appearances for the German national team, scoring 37 times.

His two goals against the Czech Republic in Euro 1996 helped Germany win the title that year. He also holds the German record for the fastest hat-trick in an international tournament.

He played in the 1998 and 2002 World Cups, with his last appearance being Germany’s 2-0 loss against Brazil in the 2002 tournament.
