Roma president James Pallotta has hit back at the racial slurs by FIGC presidential candidate Carlo Tavecchio.

Tavecchio has sparked the latest racism scandal in Italian football amidst his running for the presidential campaign, with Roma’s number one the latest to object.

Pallotta spoke from Dallas as the Giallorossi are set to face Real Madrid in the International Champions Cup.

“Roma’s position has been clear for some time”, said Pallotta to the press.

“I do not understand how he could be a candidate for the presidency, and I do not understand how there can be clubs that support him”.

Pallotta also touched on the future of star defender Mehdi Benatia amidst he reports he could possible be sold this summer.

“Benatia is not for sale, and has never been. He is an important player on and off the pitch.

“We do not need to sell but then again, in football as in business, never say never”.
