New Torino signing Fabio Quagliarella has revealed that he’s happy to have returned to his former club and hopes to please the fans next season.

The 31-year-old, who came up through the Toro youth system and previously played professionally for the club from 1999 until 2005, joined the Granata from rivals Juventus on July 16 for a fee of €3.5 million and he admits that it feels good to be back where he started his footballing career.

Quagliarella spoke during his official press conference reveal about returning to Torino and mentioned why he had left in 2005, while also commenting on his time with Juve and the rivalry between the two Turin sides.

“I was at Torino and we were in the Serie A, but then I had found myself without a club and it wasn’t a good situation,” said the striker.

“I was waiting on a phone call to make my return to Turin, but after 15 days came a call from Udinese. It must have been destiny because it went well, so I decided to leave.

“Coming back to Torino has been a positive a feeling, it’s a return to my origins.

“I thank Juventus for an unforgettable four years, but now I’m at Torino and my main goal is to please the fans as much as possible.

“I understand the rivalry between fans from both clubs here in Turin, but I’m a professional and will act as one.”
