Napoli coach Rafael Benitez believes that Juventus are still favourites to win Serie A, despite the sudden coaching change,

La Vecchia Signora appointed former AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri after Antonio Conte’s resignation, but Benitez believes that they are still the strongest side in Serie A.

In his first press conference ahead of the new season, the former Liverpool coach said that the Bianconeri remain the title favourites, whilst also maintaing the importance of balancing the side.

Balance is the key,” he said.  “It can be adjusted with a defensive midfielder in front of the backline.”

“Juventus have always been the strongest and it will be the same this season.

“This does not change much, I do not think that we have become the favourites; [Massimiliano] Allegri has a similar technical capacity to [Antonio] Conte.

“We will see what will happen but their level will always be high”.

Benitez also had the opportunity to discuss some of his signings in the transfer window, specifically French defender Kalidou Koulibaly who arrived from Belgian side Genk.

“He [Koulibaly] is elastic, fast, has a powerful header, and plays well with both feet,” he said. “Now I have to work because playing in Italy is not the same as playing in Belgium.

“It’ a matter of time and work; he has a big future ahead of him.”
