Juan Iturbe VeronaJuan Iturbe is expected to sign for Roma from Hellas Verona in a big money deal, at the expense of previous suitors Juventus.

Young Argentine winger Iturbe was one of the players of the season in Serie A last year with Juventus coach Antonio Conte specifically asking for a player with his characteristics, but Conte’s resignation last night threw the deal into doubt and Roma have moved swiftly to take advantage.

TuttoMercatoWeb are reporting that Hellas have accepted an offer from the Giallorossi, with the player already in Rome waiting for confirmation, and is expected to move for a fee of around €31 million, with the Argentine signing a five year deal worth €1.6m a season.

Earlier in the day it had been reported that Roma’s exciting young center back Alessio Romagnoli would be included in Roma’s bid, with €28.5 million being paid but Roma have instead decided on a straight cash deal for one of the best young players in world football.

The news will come as a massive blow to Juventus, who had hoped to wrap a deal up with Hellas this week before Conte’s resignation and the subsequent chaos gave Roma an opening which Rudi Garcia gladly took.
