Roma turn to Aston Villa defender if Benatia leaves

Ron Vlaar have turned their attention to  defender  should Mehdi Benatia leave the club this summer.

The Giallorossi may wave goodbye to the Moroccan defender after just one season after his impressive performances in the Serie A last campaign and as a result they have turned their attention to the Dutch defender.

Corriere dello Sport reports that Roma are waiting for an adequate offer from Bayern Munich or Barcelona for the former Udinese man before making a €5 million move for the Dutch international.

With his Aston Villa contract expiring in 2015 the Dutchman could push for the move to go through in order to secure Champions League football next season.

Vlaar started in all seven games for the Netherlands at the World Cup, helping the Oranje to a third place finish at the tournament.
