Fiorentina forward Giuseppe Rossi has made clear the Viola’s Champions League aspirations, after last seasons late dip in form cost them a place among Europe’s finest.

The club’s fourth place finish meant that earned Europa League qualification once again, but Rossi insists the club wishes to aim higher this coming season.

“Fiorentina wants the Champions League. To do this we need to work well,” he told FirenzeViola.it.

Speaking on the eve of the clubs South American training camp, Rossi declared he was itching to play after injury and missing out on World Cup selection.

“I cannot wait to play. I’m training but I have not yet had the opportunity to play in a friendly,” he said.

Rossi was also confident of the club’s ability to retain the services of prized asset Juan Cuadrado.
