Carlo TavecchioFIGC presidential candidate Carlo Tavecchio is to be investigated following racial remarks referring to African players.

Tavecchio, who is favourite to become the new president of the Italian FA, when referring to African players coming to play in Italy said,” “In England, they identify the players coming in and, if they are professional, they are allowed to play.

“Here instead we get Opti Pobà, who previously ate bananas and then suddenly becomes a first-team player with Lazio. That’s how it is here. In England, you need to demonstrate what you have on your CV and your pedigree.”

Now FIFA have written to the FIGC and asked them to investigate the remarks before sending a report to FIFA’s Task Force against racism.

Football’s governing body also sought to reming the FIGC that fighting racism and discrimination should be a top priority.
